It's almost complete after a redesign. My first concept and prototype was to have one bike rack to accommodate two different bikes, triathlon and a tandem bicycle. I found a couple of flaws in the prototype so back to the drawing board or the computer in my case and I finally worked out all the kinks.
1st Prototype - Tandem
08.8 lbs - Bike Rack Mount (Designed by Mr. Incredible)
11.4 lbs - Rocky Mounts Bike Rack
34.6 lbs - Cannondale Tandem Bike
54.8 lbs TOTAL for Tandem - Center of bike 8.0" from rear bumper
1st Prototype - Triathlon
08.8 lbs - Bike Rack Mount (Designed by Mr. Incredible)
11.4 lbs - Rocky Mounts Bike Rack
18.0 lbs - Specialize Triathlon Bike
38.2 lbs TOTAL for Triathlon - Center of bike 8.0" from rear bumper
I split up the two bike using two different redesigned bike rack mounts and bike racks.
Final Design - Tandem
05.2 lbs - Bike Rack Mount (Designed by Mr. Incredible)
11.4 lbs - Rocky Mounts Bike Rack
34.6 lbs - Cannondale Tandem Bike
51.2 lbs TOTAL for Tandem - Center of bike 3.50" from rear bumper
Final Design - Triathlon
04.5 lbs - Bike Rack Mount (Designed by Mr. Incredible)
02.2 lbs - Yakima Bike Rack
18.0 lbs - Specialize Triathlon Bike
24.7 lbs TOTAL for Triathlon - Center of bike 3.50" from rear bumper
Moving the centerline of the bikes closer to the rear bumper stopped the bouncing and flexing of the bike rack mounts. All the pieces are out for powder coating. As soon as I get them back I will post complete and detailed pictures.
