This August the Houston Smart Car Club decided to caravan down to Galveston as many of us have not been there since hurricane Ike. We met up and two locations starting 10:30 and 11:00 in the morning for a quick head count, then a Smart run down to Galveston. We made a lot of people stare and smile and a few of them even took pictures.
In Galveston we met up at a resturant and tiki bar named The Spot. This was a nice all around place with burgers and shakes, beer and margaritas, and many other appetizers and desserts. It is right across from the street from the seawall next to 32nd street. Of course, there was ample parking for our car club.
The Galveston economy seems to be well on its way to recovery but still not 100%. The beaches were active with family fun in the sun as well as a few fishermen. Some of the tourist businesses could still use a boost to stay afloat so I encourage you all to visit our neighbor city if you want to play on the beach.
Our many thanks to Susan and Tipton for organizing this event.

Plenty of parking, for us anyway!
More parking in the rear...uh, nevermind.
