Hi everyone,
The last few days when I have started my car I have noticed a little blinking wrench in the display area, and a negative number. For a couple of days it was - 3, then yesterday was -6. It's always been only when I start the car and when it's in reverse until this morning, when it was visible in drive, and this morning there was no number at all.

The manual says the wrench and number indicate when service is due, but I had it in just about a week ago. I should hope no service is due...

They reset mine at the dealer in about 5 seconds...

Does anyone know how to reset the service alert? I had mine serviced at a non Smart dealer, and they didn't reset it.

Judi, mine shifts a lot easier, less of a lag in between gears which people on here told me they got better gas mileage after the 2.0 update.

I had the software update a couple of months ago - my car had been stalling, and after the update, it stopped and ran smoother. How about you, Michele?

Just got my car serviced today. It took 1 1/2 hours and was 207.00 not bad and also got the 2.0 upgrade with the free battery and new computer software that took an extra hour.

Well...I took delivery of my car 9/12/2008, which will be a year Saturday, and the alert went off Friday, 7 days ago. Guess I'd better call now, since it's still under a year for 2 more days...

The difference between the one year service indicator and the date you took delivery is because the one year timer starts at the factory. I took delivery of my car in May and the one year alert went off in March at much less than 10k miles. I brought the car in and had the service done. At my dealer, the service cost $200+.

Oh, the 2 minute commute just explains the low mileage. I do take it out...I take it everywhere! My husband barely drives anymore ;-) It's regularly up to 70 mph, er, or more...but most places I go, even by highway, just aren't that far.

Anyway, I wonder why the dealer didn't change the oil when I had it in last week...or reset the service indicator. If I have to take it back in now, do they charge for it? Or is it included in the 1st year perks, once the 1st year is technically over?
