To keep the Smart looking good, besides washing it, has anyone applied wax or polish ? Looking at the products that I have for the other car, all say do not apply to plastic or vinyl . So I put the question to the smartest group I know. Who uses what ?

Turtle Wax may be popular, but the best is Mothers advanced reflections advanced car wax found here: http://www.mothers.com/02_products/10016.html I give it a good wash with some walmart car wash with built in wax. Before I wash it, I spray the rims with black magic wheel cleaner. Then, I hose off the under body with my hose and spray off the rim cleaner and clean the car. After it is all dry, I throw on some back to black for all the trim inside and outside. Also, I spray the engine down once a week with 2 in 1 engine shine and degreaser because I go to my car show every week. After all that is done, I put some armor all wet shine on the wheels and wax the car and spray febreeze auto in my car then windex auto the windows and I'm all set to go after a vacuuming and debris pickup. It always turns out better than when it arrived.

I have been using Turtle Wax Ice since last year on my other two cars, Vespa scooters and love the results.

Yea. if you read my comment in the one new discussion labeled "brake dust", i explain how i put mine on. nothing difficult though. probably the longest step in the whole thing of installing them is giving them a nice good cleaning from front to back. Not entirely necessary, but hey... the wheels are off the car... so why not?

OK, Ryan, you made a sale for smart madness. I ordered my Kleen Wheels this afternoon. I was really getting tired of scrubbing the wheels! Thanks for pushing me over the edge. I'm sure I'll be pleased with them.

Fred: i'll tell you what... i think the nicest purchase i made towards something for my Smart so far has been the Kleen Wheels brake dust shields. There are some that say that brakes would get hotter because of blocking the airflow.... but if you ask me, i believe most of the airflow past the brakes comes from under the car out towards the wheels and through the rims (would explain the serious buildup of brake dust on the outside edges of ANY car's wheels). Had them on my Brabus for like.... 2 or 3 weeks now, and they work freakin fantastic. don't think there's really a speck of brake dust on the rims.... and to be honest, i'd much rather see a nice painted black piece of aluminum or whatever they're made out of, than see a brake disc that, one it has been sitting for a few minutes (or seconds if it's really damp out), starts to show some surface rust.

I go my yellow/ black cabrio in May of 2008. After a couple of months, I applied the three step Maguire process (cleaner, polish, sealer) and to this day, the finish looks superb, water continues to bead on the car and dirt and stains come off with minimal effort. It left a white streak on the matte black finish elements. I took care of that with Turtle Wax Ice Black. I clean the alloys with Turtle Wax wheel cleaner.

I've had my red Smart Cabriolet since January, 2009, and it still looks as shiny and new as the day I got it, and it has never been polished. Fortunately, free car washes are provided by the Smart Center in Sarasota, FL, where I bought the car. Usually, I clean the wheels between washing, with a spray which I bought at the center.

I'm quite fond of the Turtle Wax Ice products.

I used Turtle Wax Liquid super hard shell car wax, Says on the back works great on Shower Walls, Kitchen Appliances, Tub Doors & Patio furniture. Seemed to work great on my smart. Applied it to everything except the matte black plastic, used MOTHERS back to black-exterior bumper and trim care on the black matte plastic. Both worked well
