If you recall, we had shifting issues right after the clutch was replaced back in October, well, now the transmission was replaced. The good news is Smart paid for it even with our car having over 23,000 miles on the odometer. Still love the car, still having fun, enjoy the 40 plus miles to the gallon; even when i drive 80 MPH on my daily 140 mile round trip comute!

I get 43 MPG on Interstate drives through mountains at an average speed of 70MPH....My daughter-in-law in her Prius can't do that well in those conditions....

Sometimes it would shift, other times there was nothing. The "D" would flash and the little "wrench" would flash when it would not shift. Dealer could not figure it out, they called Smart, Smart said replace it and send them the transmission.

Any details on why the whole tranny needed to be replaced?
