We were on the "Orphan" list for only one month but we jumped at the chance for our little guy. Here's what they emailed their Orphan List ...

"Smart Center -- has just received a one of a kind smart that is available for immediate delivery!

This passion coupe has a paint scheme you won't find anywhere else. It is first come first serve, no deposits taken - come see it for yourself - it won't last the day!!

Hope to see you today!"

and they did see us that day. 30 min after they sent the email I was walkin' out the door with all 5 other family members. We were not the 1st to see it but the "others" needed to think about it. We didn't need to think much. We knew we were in for a 4 to 18+ month wait for an Orphan or we could pay the extra price for our unique baby. We paid. He's a unique Smartie and we're a unique family. Birds of a feather.

We get looks where ever we go of course and that sure makes it fun. We've had 4 neighbors come by in 24 hours to talk to us about the car. I love it! Of course the conservative religious family across the street hasn't stopped by but they've never liked us (don't know why they wouldn't like a 2 dad headed household).

In a few minutes, I'm gonna do the first night time drive around the neighborhood just for fun. I bought a connector cable today for my iPod so I'll be jammin' out.

According to Round Rock Smart Center Texas (thanx to Jordan for all his help), the official color is "It's Green" (which doesn't do justice to its Chameleon blue/green nature) and the only one in the U.S.

I saw your pics. Color is great. Others that want to do the same or simular paint scheme up to maybe 7 colors and get this done a local paint shop that does custome work. I had a PT cruiser done in four colors for around 2400.00

According the the smart center it was done in France and it's a one of a kind, as far as they know. I am totally lucky to have it and VERY glad to have an unusual color.

I LOVE your iridescent color! I thought it was just green until I saw your closeups! You are very fortunate to get one so quickly and with a really cool, one of a kind color. How is it that this color was done and it's the only one like it? I originally chose the red, and then saw it in person during their tour last summer. It looked too orangy for me and I changed to blue. I get a lot of compliments on the color! I love the blue better! But yours makes me green with envy! :)

Oh yea, I am a total lucky dawg on the purchase of my car. Okay, I paid WAY more than I thought I would 'cause it's loaded with everything (except leather seats which is the one thing I woulda gotten) and it has a unique color but I got it 4 or more months earlier than I should have. Every person on our local dealers Orphan list got the email Saturday morning but I jumped on it. Good luck on getting your "Buzzy" ASAP!

I LOVE the color!! Congrats on getting your orphan.

As far as the neighbors? It's been my experience that people don't like what they can't understand. Just consider it their loss. ;)

we paid 21 for our smartie. It's a pretty loaded Passion (except for the leather seats we got it all). So the price, ouch, should make anyone feeling jealous about the color feel MUCH better. In a sense you could say we PAID to move up to #1 on the Orphan list ( we were only on it a month).

How much extra was it?

Thanks! Yea, it's a pretty cool color. I wasn't all that happy with the color selection of the Smarties BUT I figured I'd take any color I got and be happy. At any rate, we're all real happy now.
BTW - Two dad families are great fun, at least that's what the other 8 year old little league baseball players told one of our sons.

I'm having trouble with flickr as a site for photo uploads but you can check out a video of my car in the video section or on my page.
