Like many others here, I get a lot of questions about my lil smart fortwo. I've had people follow me into stores and even wait for me to come back out. Early on I had heard about how others left slips of paper with information on them in a plastic bag on their windshields. I did not want to deal with slips of paper that would need to periodically need to be replaced. So I printed off one sheet, put it in a clear protective sleeve and put it in the windshield. Today I updated and edited my own when I was making one for someone else. Here is the new and improved revised copy. Figured I'd post it here to make it easier to find for future reference and just in case someone else might like to use it. {Note: some of my numbers are rounded.}

Hi! I am a smart fortwo.

The smart car was introduced in Spain in 1998. It was designed by Swatch and made by Mercedes. Over 1 MILLION have been sold in more than 36 countries. 2008 is the first year that Mercedes and Penske Auto Group has brought the smart to the United States. More than 10,000 have been delivered here.

I have a gas powered 3-cyl, 1.0 liter, 71 hp engine and an 8.7 gallon gas tank. My EPA MPG is 33/41. My personal best so far is 47 MPG! My top rated speed is 90 MPH. I do just fine at highway speeds and have had no problems keeping up with the Dallas and Fort Worth traffic.

I am a manumatic with a 5 speed transmission but no clutch. I can be driven in manual or automatic mode.

Overall, I got 4 out of 5 stars with NHTSA ratings and the highest IIHS safety ratings. I protect my occupants with a safety tridion cell that is modeled after the roll cages used by NASCAR. I come equipped with driver, passenger and side air bags. I’m a lot safer than my owners other ride which is a Harley motorcycle.

I am 106” long, 61” wide and 60” tall. I’m quite nimble with a 28’ turning circle. I’m well equipped with ESP, ABS, and hill assist. My brakes are dual circuit system with servo assist. I have 11” disc brake in front and 8” diameter drum brakes in the rear.

To top it all off I’m produced with green technology!

The pure model starts at $12,000. To learn more you can visit If you are interested in adopting a smart car I was adopted from Park Place smart center of Dallas. Allison took care of my placement and her number is 214-224-7200.

Thanks for the add, Angel!

You've got a great page going here. Love the pics.

As most smart owners know, it's hard to just get out of the car and walk into the store. lol I hadn't thought about putting anything under the wiper blades but I did get a handful of brochures from the dealer. I keep them in a netted pocket in Little Yellow to hand out. Might start putting them under the blades. Good idea. Need one of those little plastic boxes to hang on the door, you know, the ones that say "Free. Take one".

The curiosity doesn't seem to wear off. I got a call from a friend who needed a ride last week. They were going to be at a Starbucks getting coffee while waiting for me. So I pulled into the lot, parked and walked away so I could have a smoke while waiting for my friend. Most everyone sitting outside was looking at Little Yellow, smiling, pointing, walking up to look in the window with donut in hand. When my friend came out and got in the car she was amazed that it was just like I've been saying. And like Mike 5 said, instant celebrity!

Another friend said buying a smart was a good decision. You get all the attention and save money by not buying the Lamborghini! When he said that, another friend said "It's just a car!".

Well, no, it's not.

Yeah, shortly after delivery in Feb, I had to create a laminated FAQs sheet to leave on my cab's dash, EVERYWHERE I parked it, to keep the crowds to a minimum. Another local equated smart ownership with "instant celebrity" status. = )

My dealer gave me a bunch of the brochures & her business cards. Everytime I leave the vehicle parked, I put a couple brochues & business cards under the windshield wipers.... they are always gone when I return, of course. . . .

Thanks ya'll. I'll have to see if about whether or not my local dealership has some brochures I can snag to hand out.

I just updated the sheet yesterday for the post. So yeah. I'll continue to update it until it becomes irrelevant.

Hi Angel. Next time you get by your dealer pick up a bunch of their Smart color brochures. I hand them out right and left.

The sleeve is a great idea. :o) A2Jack

My smart dealer now has special brochures made up by smartusa that explains the smart, its safety features, price points, etc. Anybody who wants such a brochure should contact their dealer. I guess smart did this in response to people doing exactly what you did!
