Turning heads! Driving is fun again!

Today was so cool! I LOVE driving this car! I was driving around Austin and had LOTS of people stop, stare and smile. Lot's of drivers turing their heads too. The coolest ones were the pacers. A silver corvette paced me to look while I was on the highway and so did a tricked out red (with flames) convertible mustang, but the very best was from the Durango driver who actually leaned out his window to look. Driving is fun again, even without the attention. It handles well, I lOVE the transmission (it feels like a manual even in automatic, which is so cool 'cause you can actually feel the road and experience the ride), it gets in and out where ever I wanna go and it fits me perfectly. I stopped to get a few things at the grocery store and it really holds a lot of stuff! I've had my share of cars, VW Beetle, VW Dasher, Ford Maverick, Isuzu pickup, Triumph Spitfire, New Beetle, Buick Skylark, and my (gasp) mini-van but this is by far the most fun ride of them all. I had forgotten how much fun driving can be because I've been driving that darned people mover (mini-van). I love this car. Thanks again to RR smart Center and Jordan for getting me into this gem of a car.

My partner of 8 years and I fight over who is going to drive our smart too. Our other vehicles are a mini-van (my car) and a 4 door truck (his car). He's a BIG truck kinda bear, huzbear, but he wants to drive the smart too.

With 4 kids then that means 4 trips and 4 more reasons to drive the same path! Do you draw straws to see who gets to ride first or who clears the table first?

Thank God. I thought I was the only one who would use any and all excuses to drive. "No, I'll pick you up," "I wonder what the weather is like in Plymouth," "I feel like going shopping," "no, maybe just hitting the library," "oh, hell, I'll just admit it: I want to drive aimlessly."

Well IcePlanet, with 4 kids there's always a real reason to get out drive. In fact, as I sit here I just remembered that my allergy Rx is ready for me to pick up at the local pharmacy (dang, it's not far enough away). Gotta go. Gotta drive, baby drive!

So much for saving money in gas on the Smart. I have spent more money in gas on my smart in a month than I have on my 4Runner in any given month before I got my smart. Sure it gets really good gas mileage but that doesn't do any good in saving money when you make any excuse possible to go out and drive it. But I'm not complaining. It's worth the price! On the few days when I drive my 4Runner it feels really weired with no one staring and pointing. Makes me feel kinda lonely.

Congrats on your special new Smart!
That color is the absolute BEST! Reminds me of the joy of windsurfing over Caribbean waters :)~
Since you find it even more fun than your Spitfire then I am in for a treat when I get my SC. My sister and I grew up alternately riding in Dad's TR4 and I've been looking forward to experiencing that fun feeling again someday.
Thanks for sharing and take care,
