Some seem to love it. Some seem to dislike it. Some question its safety. But most everyone seems to find the smart intriguing.

Maybe it’s the novelty of being new on the roads here in the US. Maybe it’s because the smart is so small. Or maybe it’s just because the smart is so different from anything else here in the US. Maybe it’s the design and how when looking at the smart from the front she just seems to smile at everyone.

On the roads and highways there are plenty of smiles, waves, and thumbs up. There are the occasional people who while trying to drive will attempt to take pictures. Most every time out I see people who slow down, fall behind and slowly creep beside me before passing to get a better look.

When parking somewhere or just stopped at a light, sign or even in traffic there are people who want to ask questions. Most just seem interested and well meaning. There are a few who some back with snide remarks. All of which still seem intrigued. Even people who would generally never stop and ask questions are just so fascinated they just have to when they see a smart car.

I could use lots of words to describe the smart car. Smart comes to mind first. Economical is another good choice. Fun and quirky are two that I love. Different and odd could even be good choices to describe the smart car. And the smart car is certainly friendly. Despite what some may think the smart car is certainly safe. Being a micro car it certainly is small and even compact. With the way I can now scoot around in traffic I’d also add zippy to my list. I would certainly be remiss if I forgot to add happy. For all the many people on a waiting list waiting months or years for their smart car and some already waiting for a second it certainly seems desirable or even popular. With the gas savings and technology for making the smart it is also green. When it comes to driving or even washing I find my smart enjoyable. The smart car is quite the enigma.

It’s hard to choose just one word when there are so many! Even with my list, I’m sure I’ve omitted several. But love it or dislike it, most are intrigued. The way she draws a crowd in parking lots and causes others to slow down in traffic. I’m often intrigued by the reactions of others. I’m sure that it will pass to an extent after more smarts on the highways, streets and roads here in the US. For now if I had to pick one words out of the many that could be used, it would have to be intriguing.

What one word would you use to describe the smart car? Or if you have yours already what would you use to describe your own smart car?

I am with you Delaney. I can only describe it with the childhood word that meant fun and happiness all rolled into one, to me. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

That's okay. It kind of got buried there.

I totally agree Angel and I'm sorry I missed your earlier post using Avante-Garde. I didn't make the 'french connection', qui, c'est apropos

Avant-garde can also be considered beginning of a movement that often does not conform to the traditional or previously accepted ideas or standards. Ahead of the mainstream. That which is ahead of popular taste. Plus the word being French in origin and the smart being built in France ... Just kind of went together.

That's true Kathryn. If given a choice I'll usually tend to stay to myself. Driving Blue Belle forces me to either be more sociable or I'll look like a snobish standoffish b!#ch.

I love Earth Rover and adventursome. Hadn't thought of it that way. Guess I see my smart more of a road warrior than Earth rover.

Avant-garde: Of, relating to, or being part of an innovative group.

My smart is an Earth Rover... in one word: ADVENTURSOME!

Blue Belle releases my inner extrovert. Kind of hard to be introverted, reserved and shy when so many people want to ask questions. And everyone is so friendly!

And since it seems like 2 questions ....
One thing my smart says about me? avant-garde
