A few weeks ago, I was involved in an accident at 45 mph. I didn't intend to test the safety features of my Smart Car, but the accident proved without a doubt that this truly is one of the safest cars on the road. Though I sustained bruises and contusion, I did not have any serious injuries. The car had some damage, but most of it was replacing the air bag. The auto body shops couldn't believe how well it took the impact and was still easy to drive. They said that repair would not be difficult;  take a damaged part off and replace it with a new one.  Total damage estimate was $2500 ($1000 of it was to replace the airbag). There was no body work, just put a new factory fender on to replace the damaged one. The body shop said they have never had a car so easy to repair.

The nearest Smart Center was not locally accessible. The AAA body shop has experience working on Smart Cars.

Just curious. Why repairs at a body shop instead of a Smart Center?
