Channel 13's Share Your Holidays Food Drive

Well, our first attempt at making a convoy to the Food Drive didn't turn out like I imagined, but it happened despite all the crazy things that were thrown at us.

ABC 13 didn't post any information on the event till the Monday before the event and then changed the location of the drop off point. Mother Nature decided to give us snow on the day of the event; which looked incredible but didn't help traffic conditions very much. Then our meet up before the event didn't happen as it was a bit difficult to find each other in the museum district.

Ah but alas the event went on anyway and we did make a showing, even if it was separately. I believe Jan was first to the drop off and actually got on camera with a quick wave although she didn't actually get to speak. Jenna and I made it there second and were upstaged by a large bus dropping off food so we didn't get any camera time. It was reported 2 more Smarts made it after us but we don't know who they might be right now.

I want to thank all of you for coming out in this crazy Texas weather to do a great thing for your fellow Houstonians. For those of you who couldn't make it due to work or weather, you were with us in spirit. This event will get better the more we participate in it. There's always next year!

Here are some pictures we took at House of Pies afterwards. It began to snow and gave us a really nice scenery to snap photos of our cars. I know, I know, I forgot to take a picture of us at the actual food drive; something else to get better at next year!

Ha! I used Microsoft's Digital Image Pro 9 to make the plates. Thought it would be funny given the fact that Houston only gets snow every decade or so. Better luck to all of us next year!

Yes, I did make it on TV! They showed me pulling up (yellow/back smart), then showed me waving at the camera as they unloaded my smart.

Dora (in a red smart) was shown pulling up among some big trucks! They highlighted her red car. She was the last smart seen on the live TV broadcast. I taped the whole show so I could watch it all the way through.

Channel 13 featured five people (four guys and one women) from the Houston Corvette Club that told Ch 13 it was their sixth year to support the event.

Dora (who came from way out Hwy. 290) and I met for lunch with my friend Debi at the KC Brick House on Hempstead, near Dacoma. We enjoyed watching it snow. Even my hubby Richard stopped by to have lunch with us! The smart cars had no trouble at all! Traffic was light all day!

Thanks a million, Tommy, for putting this together! Cute FAKE license plates you two used for the occasion. You will have to give up pointers on how you made them.

If you come up with other ideas, feel free to post them.
