I thought the Dealership where i got my car had a few less cars in the lot when i was there last. I think that people are getting wise since the price of gas seems to be going up again. I am also getting some questions from strangers again, which is kinda cool.

"A total of 6,600 (January 2009: 8,600) smart fortwo were sold worldwide in February (minus 24 percent). The company expects sales of the smart fortwo to get a boost particularly from the market launch of the new-generation smart fortwo, which will start in the third quarter of 2010. "
That appears to indicate 6.7% of the world sales was in the USA, if the USA numbers were included in this calculation.
As for the new generation, will the USA sales include the new generation smart???

I can only assume that other manufacturers plans to start selling micro compacts in the USA is due to their knowledge that gas prices are going much higher within a few years...Smart people are prepared for major changes...
True enough. But how many times have you seen a Prius hauling 4 or 5 people? Mostly they haul the same number as a Smart: one person. There's nothing wrong with a Prius, of course, and if more and more people drove them, and Smarts, we'd all be better off.
"The price difference between the Smart vs. Prius indicates the Smart wins efficiency hands down over 5 years... "
Efficiency means different things to different people. No matter what the difference in base prices, hauling 4 or 5 people at 50+ mpg is more efficient than hauling two people at 41 mpg.
