GEAR SHIFTER NOT WORKING PROPERLY?

Does or has anybody else have a problem with the gear shifter not shifting till you play with it?
In park, then I shift to drive (but it acts as if it's in nutral) then I go back to park and try it again. 1 or 2 times of doing that and it's works.

If yes and you know what the problem is, please fill me in.

I also own a 2009 Smartcar and having the same problem as you. Either trying to get reverse or drive will not register until I play around with the shifter. Planing to call the dealer soon for repairs, car is still under warranty. If I find out before you I will e-mail you in members.

Also worth trying the transmission re-teach procedure in the Owners Manual (see link in post #2 in the thread above.)
