Been away for three years, while my two daughters sequentially drove my 2008 Passion Cabriolet for their freshman and sophomore years of college.  Got "Pete" back this Summer, just had 60K servicing done, and only needed to replace an aging serpentine belt.  Still averaging 40 mpg overall per tankful.

Somewhat sad about tomorrow's unveiling of the new 453 version 2015 model, as jointly developed with Renault.  Gotta say I've never been a fan of Renault or Gallic cars in general... However, the future of the smart franchise is dependent upon increasing market penetration globally, so this joint venture must be successful, or the brand will likely be sold or dissolved by MB. So, GOOD LUCK 453!

Meanwhile, my faithful 451 will no doubt continue to serve as my "modern day MGB," except that it starts every time, it has heat (and AC), and the electronics always work...  So, FAREWELL 451!

When you see the new smarts I think you'll agree they are more German than French (although the French are building some excellent small cars now.)  And don't forget all fortwos are made in France.

Interesting. My 2009 model only gets 27 mpg.
