I am official, I have outsmarted the smart!

OMG I did it!!!!!! THE wretched wrenches went away!!!!!! and I cannot tell you for the life of me how I did it...... door closed check!, going somewhere, check... chicken nuggets in the oven, check... key in ignition, check... turn to pos II, quick but decided double tap on left button next to display, check Ahh quick turn of key (pos I)... push button again and keep it pressed while I turn key to pos II, cheeeeck.... count one mississippi 2 mississippi..... heard the dash make noises, argh, I thought the counter blinked a little... 7 mississippi, 8 mississippiiiiii, Please let this work 10! wait there is a 10,000 on the dash! ahh turn ignition to off take key out! ahhhhhh I hope please o geez could this be?
trembling I put the key back in the ignition and! I swear I heard harps and holy music... NO WRENCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I GOT MY MERIT BADGE WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It only is of by 4,500 miles after the 20k oil change but I DID IT!

Comment by Walt Powell on January 30, 2010 at 12:41am: My problem started at 6500 miles. The wrench appeared! Used to say how many miles to 10000. Now it says - 112, -310, -381, -473, (they'r all minuses) etc. Still running OK - no other problems at 9200 miles. Can't figure out the wrench switch.

And like the defroster compressor control, this is probably different based on the month of build as to which cheek muscle you must contract whilst turning the key to the appropriate position. Thanks for sharing the details that will help make some of us smile.
