I SPOKE TO A SMART CAR OWNER IN LADY LAKE FLA. ABOUT WHAT KIND OF GAS MILEAGE HE WAS GETTING WITH HIS SMART. OVERALL, HE IS GETTING ABOUT TWICE THE MILEAGE THAT I'M GETTING. 34 IS TOPS FOR ME, MOSTLY IN TOWN. WHAT GIVES. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AUTOMATICS AND STANDARDS FOR OVER 50 YEARS.

I feel your pain! I have 49 fill ups on fuelly.com and my average over that time is only 33.4. I have a stock 2008 smart passion. I too have been driving manuals for a long time. I just don't get it. I'm not a led foot or goose it off the line. Most of my driving is within a file mile radius in the city.

A couple of thoughts on your gas mileage, Regis.

1) the EPA mileage estimate is 33 city and 41 highway so you're likely in the ballpark for expected mileage, and

2) I'm not sure where you live but with the onset of colder winter weather, gas mileage will drop in any car or truck due to cold temperature operation and deteriorating road conditions.
