Hello, Summer! Anxious to soak up some sun? Before you take your smart to the beach, check out these tips to summer-ize your car:
1. Prep your cooling systems by checking the radiator and hoses for leaks or cracks. Be sure all the connections are snug, including the reservoir cap. The reservoir level should be at the marking bar between max & min. If it is low, add coolant. WARNING: Allow your engine to cool down for at least 30 minutes before attempting to open coolant reservoir.
2. Inspect your air conditioner’s belt condition and condenser. Clean any debris from the front of the condenser to allow for proper airflow and maximum heat exchange.
3. Swap out your winter tires with summer tread.
4. Hot weather can increase the temperature of your brake system, which can reduce stopping efficiency, so take a look at your brake pads to ensure they are not worn.
