I will make this short and sweet. I have a 2008 Smart Passion. I got it for the fuel money savings due to my 40 mile drive to work. This car has cost me more money to keep on the road when it comes to maintinace and break downs, than if i would have got the F150 i was looking at and filled it up with fuel to go to work in. I will never buy another one and cant wait to pay this thing off and trade it in 1 more year. I take very good care of this car and it still breaks down. I have voiced my issues with Smart in the past and have heard nothing. MONEY PITT. 180 mile round trips for oil changes also suck.

It's a shame that you have had so many problems with your Passion. However, it's not exactly a reason to condemn the entire company. Had you bought the F150, you probably would have spent as much on gas as you did on maintenance and breakdowns over the course of 70,000 miles. I have a 2009 Brabus with 42,000 miles on it. I'm getting ready to take it on a 7,000 mile odyssey around the USA. I have not had a problem out of my car and do not anticipate having any on this trip. Again, it's a shame that you had so many problems with your car, but I think that the newer ones have come a very long way.

Sensor switch in the shifter telling the car that its in park or drive broke after i got gas one day at 30000 miles. This left me stranded 200 bucks to tow it to cinncinati Smart center to be fixed. Just out of warranty. At 50000 miles magnets that work the timming broke at a stop light left me stranded. another 200 bucks to tow. 3 racoons totaled out radiator and front end 3 times. Insurance towed thank god. Flat tire no spare left me stranded. Rubber boot fell off drive shaft then water shorted out EPS sensor. More out of pocket money. 10000 mile servicing was costing me $400 a pop at Smart Center (porshe Dealer) Thank God they just moved to Merceades Dealer $175 now. I'm at 70000 miles at this time on car and check engine light comes on and off now. Whats next. This car is the second smart car in Ohio sold. I ordered it in 2006 and delivered 2008 it's let me down a lot, everyday I get in it I hope it starts so I can get to work then home. I thought a German car would be more reliable, I was wrong.

Sounds like you are talking to the wrong people.  Sorry you are having problems, An oil change can be done by any competent repair shop or oil change place. My last 2 or 3 were done by a rapid oil change right down the street. Cost (with bringing my own oil and filter) was about $30.

In contrast, my Expedition ( same as a F150) would launch spark plugs out of the block at the tune of $600+ each. it is up to 7 of 8 launched so far.
