Today is July 1st 2011- MBusa day, farewell smartUSA

According to what we have been told, today is the day that Mercedes Benz USA is taking over smart in the U.S. I hope that some of the good things I have heard regarding the transition/takeover will be coming forth soon. I did expect some kind of 'Official' announcement on the sUSAi main page. Oh well, maybe next week.

Here's some news via Chris from MB of Madison WI:

"Hello everyone! MBUSA is looking to kick things off my offering a TON of market support for us dealers, which means great things for smart owners going forward. The crystal ball is still cloudy, but forcasted to clear up next week, in other words, don't take what I'm saying as gospel quite yet. :)

We are rolling out $199/mo 24 month leases on the 2011 Passion Coupes, and $249/mo on the Cabriolets. I do not have the exact terms yet, but sounds like it will be $1,500 due at signing, $500 dealer discount, and advertised payment will not include tax. "Aquisition fee" is being lowered to only $295! This is a great deal, and a great way for people to "try" the brand without a huge money/time investment.

Low APR's are also rolling out, as low as 0.9%!

Other news is that the 2012's will have a newly designed body panels, engine software upgrades, new 15" style wheel design, and LED daytime running lights (like the Lightshine Edition) will be optional on the Passion and Cab models.

2014 will bring a new turbo engine with higher output of around 90hp, and a DCT (dual clutch transmission)... this my friends will be the car you should have posted on the front of the refrigerator!

The new EV's will be getting 70+ miles on a charge and will be "competitively priced" so I'm assuming in the range of a Nissan Leaf.

That's all for now, but I'll post updates at Have a great 4th of July Weekend.
