Hi again Doreen...I don't really have any key pointers on starting a Smart club. Ours really started as a simple gathering at our dealer one Saturday for 2 or 3 hours, and we collected email addresses for everyone. From this small beginning, we just used emails, and this Insider website as well as our other site (smartcarolinas.ning.com) to plan breakfast/lunch gatherings at restaurants around the area. Our gatherings have had around 10-15 cars showing up usually, but last June we had about 30-35 for a special lunch, followed by our group being allowed to drive our cars on the Charlotte Motor Speedway for 3 laps. That was a great day! You may want to talk to your local dealer and see if they would at least help you publicize your first gathering. If I remember right, our dealer was helpful enough to email new owners to tell them of our first gathering. After that, we took over the notification process on our own, using the emails we collected at the event, and also posting planned events here on the Insider. Hope this helps you get started, and I'll give you a shout on those Santa hats ASAP. Have a good weekend and hope you enjoy your Smart as much as I have!
Hi Doreen....sorry for the slow reply regarding our oversized Santa hats shown in my photo. Several of our group got together back in the fall and stitched these hats together as a group effort. If I remember hearing correctly, they made about a dozen hats. Our group is getting together for a lunch run next week, and I'll ask if they have their directions/patterns for creating them. (I missed out on the hats too. I was loaned one of the hats for these parade days.) I'll get back to you ASAP.
Once they they figure this problem out, you will love your smart. I've only had very minor issues with mine and am in love with it. It is perfect for taking cats to the vet! It will probably turn out to be something the car is doing intentionally to inhibit the results of sommething done incorrectly. It is a pretty smart little car!
Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas. Your baby will be home with you soon!
Doreen, it may take a a few days till the right people see your discussion, sure hope you will get good help. Merry Christmas to you, and I wish they can fix your car ... you will love it ones it's fixed.
Doreen, please start a discussion with your problem, there are many smart people here, mechanics and even smartcenters from around the country, surely some one will have an idea. Hope that helps. spicejax and Randy and Ryan can also point you in the right direction or even have an answer for you, they're all very smart people.

Thank you for your message. I would love to say that I am enjoying my SmartCar but I purchased it on Dec 12th and haven't had it home yet. I have been waiting patiently and am soooo looking forward to getting her home. She is a 2008...only 3,400 miles. A Passion, loaded, Red with Silver Trim. I love her. The dealer tried to reset the oil change system and it didn't start so they had it shipped on a Flatbed to Hartford Conn. It had been there since. They replaced the entire Smarts/Computer System...it ran for a day then it didn't start again. I guess they are dealing with overseas for help. Maybe there is someone out there who had the same problems.. Doreen
Welcome Doreen, sorry for all the spam, we have a small moderation problem. Some smart drivers here got together and made those hats to go to parades and stuff. I am sure someone will share with you how there done.
