Thanks! The ed lease was a big decision - actually it is $599 per month, and a 48-month lease! But, I worked out the math and decided that if I was willing to buy a Leaf for the $30K range, then I should be willing to go for the smart at about $30K in lease payments, and get it about 10 months sooner than I could have gotten the Leaf (I had already been waiting for a year to buy an affordable electric). Plus, it was attractive to me that at the end of the lease I wouldn't be stuck with an "old" electric car that was more expensive and less efficient than every other electric car on the market in 2015.
What I didn't count on is how much higher the lease payments actually are after taxes and other fees... I pay about $700 per month!! Ouch! But, it is totally worth it to be driving electric!
Hey, Thanks! I was suggested to visit here by the First Coast Smarties. I am getting near 40 MPG while doing mostly highway driving. I have found that idling the smart is quite efficient, as I do that often.
