Hi Debra.. How's Dory? Are you still loving her? I went to the smart clinic in louisville saturday. Learned quite a bit. Do you know where your battery and tow hook are? I sure had no idea until the meeting.. lol Anyway, I just am writing to say that I ask the dealer if they get a yellow cabrio orphan with fog lights, Alarm, and gages, would they let me pick the dealer addons and sell it to me. They agreeded, I have the price on paper and now I just have to wait for a yellow Cabrio that meets those specs. If I don't get it, I'm holding out for the 2009 model. It will have a gas-cap loose light on the dash and the door storage slots will have a flexable net instead of being solid. Also Yellow and Red are gone, but a Deeper red with a different red interior, and a metallic gray will be added.. Keep in touch, and thanks again for letting me and my wife visit you and Dory.
Hi Debra, Thank you sooooooo much for the phone call this evening. My wife & I drove to the smart center in Louisville. There were 5 red smarts, 2 yellows, 2 blacks, 1 white, and 1 silver. I've never seen that many before. I found that very special red cabrio with the silver stripe and leather. It is beautiful.. I'm friends on here with a lady whose date has gotten closer 2 times in the last 2 weeks. She now is expecting her car in oct-dec 2008, and a month ago I think it was Aug 2009. I'm going to try and hold off so I can configure my little smart exactally like I want. I don't think I'm going with power steering. The car is light in the front (no engine), and I've read more than one persons report that on the highway they seem to handle better without it. You can feel the road a little better. I love the looks of those black leather seats , but Power Steering comes with that package. All I want is gages, fog lights, security alarm and silver stripe. Color is something I just haven't made my mind up with. The Black & silver looked awsome tonight, as did the red/silver, white/black. Again, thank you for thinking of me. I will get one and when I do, I'm driving to Lexington to show you... LOL
I am not able to attend. If my other smart comes in and if I do not take it, you are the 2nd person on my list to call. The first person is a very close friend of over 30 years. Specs: red, convertible, black leather, tach, no fog lights, etc.
It will be here in the next 80 days.
Hi Debra.. Thanks so much for the heads-up on the orphan this morning. I was there with and hour and it was already sold. They said a lady called and bought it and would be picking it up at 2pm. I did talk with Travis, as you suggested, and got my name on his e-mail list. I got my 1st e-mail from him (same one as you - saying the orphan was sold).. He showed me another white smart that will be an orphan, but it is a 'pure' model. If I wait the whole 16 months I should end up with a convertible, but I'll certainly look at any passions that are orphans. I told travis the only 2 options that have to be on it is fog lights (cant get them after the fact) and the gages on the dash (Tach and clock). Thanks again.. keep in touch.. Are you going to the ice cream social this sunday night in middletown? Deb & I plan to be there just so I can meet smart people.
Bill, are you saying they are increasing the cost of the car by $2000 to $3000 as a premium because of the supply and demand market? Or are you saying they are adding extra options or features for this money? Grrrrrr. Hope you and Debbie are well.
Hi Debra.. Thank you so much for thinking of me today when you read about the orphan in Louisville. Actually the man that ordered that car contacted me Monday to say it would be an orphan. (He actually purchased an orphan while waiting on this one). I drove straight to the dealer monday at noon. There is sit.. Silver / Silver with black leather and EVERY available option. It was a beautiful Passion. I talked to a sales lady there and when she ask if I was interested, I told her I'd pay the full sticker price right then. She informed me that the dealer will never sell an orphan until they put on some dealer options and add $2000-$3000 over sticker. That made this car $22,285.00 I told her I'd have to pass it up, that it wasn't in my budget. If I was going to spend that much money on a smart, I go for the convertible. Looks like I'll just have to wait it out and get what I want for the price I want in 16 more months (UNLESS I GET LUCKY and they change my delivery date).. Bottom line - THANK YOU for calling me about that orphan.
hi Debra.. Now that you've had your little smart for a few days, what do you think of it? Is it all you had hoped for? My wife & I will be in Lexington Friday night for a wedding... We'd love to see that little car.. Have a great day.
