Thanks for the invite. I am still learning the road, so I won't promise that I will come until I know my way around. I am hoping to take long drives this summer and enjoy exploring places. Oh by the way I did get my first oil change this past saturday. I kind of got lost getting there, but know that I know where the place is I will be able to get there no problem next time. By the way how old are you. I am 32. It hard to tell from your photo of you with your car. Have you given your car a name. I have not, but I think I will go with the name Cherokee.
have you seen any other smart car drivers. I know I have seen at least 2 others and would like them to join up in the group. maybe we can find a place to all get together. I am from Bridgeport, but I could probably meet somewhere in surrounding Shelton, Stratford or fairfiled. I may not know those areas too well yet, but I have a gps so I will eventually figure it out. I am actually going to get my first oil change this saturday. That will be the highlight of my day!!
Okay, Brett! You have missed an incredible photo Op. I would be willing to bet the the pictures we want to see exist! That is an outstanding example of a car that crashed into a smart on your blog. Now, where are the pics of the minor damage to your car? And DETAILS!!!!!! Or maybe it is on the safe and smart Web site. I haven't gone there to look for you. Nothing much on the crashed smarts but a comment or two. Enquiring Minds Want To Know!!!!!
I really do want to see pictures and hear your story!
My name is natty and I see you're from the Tri-State area too (I'm from NY)
anyways... I've been trying to find more participants from the New England area to take my Smart Car owner survey. This is for a marketing strategy plan that I have to do for one of my classes at Fordham University. It'll only take a few minutes and my group and I would really love to hear from you. :)

wow that is fun to be able to tell that story! Thanks for getting back to me. My car was one day old, parked across the street from my diner to be able to have my customers finally see it, and for me to enjoy looking at it...when a car came flying down main street, to park in front of me. I was watching thinking he is going so fast he is going to side swipe my car, no he parked fine in front of it then backed up so fast and smashed the front of my car pushing it back some! I was running across the street yelling you just hit my new car over and over again...he got out and said " I am so sorry I have the back up screen and never watch it or listen to the beeping to tell me I am near something" well to make a long story short he is telling me he will pay for any damages...we both then turn to look at the front of the car......................NOTHING....yes nothing...I then called my dealer in Boston and they said it has a 5 mile an hour crash box in the front and guess that means it works!!! LOLOLOL I am still telling that story...I am proud to have my smart car and love it more then any other car I have had! So happy it was safe for you...
I read that you were in an accident and I saw your pictures. I have many people asking me how I DARE to drive my car, aren't I afraid of an accident? I tell them we are as safe if not safer then riding a motor cycle. How do you think it was going through that? Were you both going very fast? Would love to know to give them a feed back when they are bothering me! LOl Thanks
Is it the Smart Center doing your repairs? Our center here would not do any repairs when I wrecked mine. I used a repair company that specialized in foreign car repairs and so far, it is 100% fixed. I did have a small rattle in the engine area, but the addressed that issue and now all is A-OK. Hope you get some satisfaction as I know how very much you have enjoyed your car.
Wow Brett - good luck with all of these issues. The only problem noticed thus far is a rattle when you first start up or when stopped at a redlight. I took it back in today and they checked/tightened all of the mounts but stated they did not find anything that could be causing the rattle. Luckily, it did not rattle on the way home, nor did it rattle in the first week after I got it back. Wonder what that means??? Hope yours is A-OK soon.
They said it was a bulb going bad. It was fixed, along with resetting the direction of the headlights this afternoon. All went well on the drive home. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I will get some new pictures posted. Let's start a new SMART club for those who have wrecked! I will go post it now - watch for SMART CRASHED CLUB
Only a couple of problems thus far - 1) the headlights are pointing down to much so I don't have but about 12 feet of visibility when driving at night and 2) the stability indicator came on this morning on the way to work. She is back down at the repair shop now and they are going to get these fixed today. Other than those two minor issues, she runs great and looks as good as new. I will post a new picture of her once the weather clears up. Thinking about posting it on the main forum as "What a SMART looks like after being hit by a SUV"!
